Our Story

Christo Joubert started his hunting career in 1996, he was the sole owner and operator of Chivic African Safaris. Years prior he had obtained his PH degree, along with his Big Five license. After establishing his business, he moved to the Highveld to start farming cattle and various crops.

In 2013, Christo became burnt out with farming and realized that hunting was his true passion. He began putting all of his efforts into Chivic African Safaris once more.

In 2016, his oldest daughter, Karen, joined Chivic as a coordinator and tour guide. In 2019, she married her husband Johan Espach, who joined Chivic as another PH.

Now, Christo still likes farming as a part-time job, but truly loves hunting and giving a genuine South African trip to customers. Karen coordinates trips for clients and Johan enjoys guiding hunts.

Fun Fact: The name “Chivic” comes from combining Christo’s name and his wife’s name, Vicki, together.
