Blesbok
$650 (USD)
Damaliscus dorcas phillipsi
The Blesbok, is most commonly found in South Africa. They are easily identified by the white blaze on their face, paired with their mostly brown bodies. They look very similar to their cousin, the Bontebok.
Both males and females have horns. The male is slightly larger than the female and his horns have more mass.
They graze in the early morning and late afternoon and walk in a single file line between drinking and feeding locations. They are a herd animal; there are female herds, bachelor herds, and territorial males.
Territories are maintained by challenging displays, threatening displays and marking grass with glands located near their eyes.
